BLURB:
Brecken Kane had been damn good at his job in the military. The experience served him well when he moved into the private sector. Brecken’s new security business is booming, and he’s settling into civilian life. Little does he know his newest client’s request to save his daughter will change everything.

Hadley Gresham knows she isn’t likely to make it out of the jungle alive. She’d distanced herself from her parents after she learned her dad made his money selling illegal arms. Kidnapped by his competitors, she knows there’s little chance he’ll be able to save her.

Luckily for Hadley, her father hires Brecken. He’d never leave an innocent woman behind, let alone the one he quickly comes to consider his. Brecken might be Hadley’s rescuer, but she's the one who saves his soul.

Warning: This book has an alpha hero who races to the rescue of the virgin heroine. If you like insta-love and hot sex in the steamy jungle, then this story is for you!

Please note: This is the second novella in the Body & Soul series, but it can be read as a standalone. Each book in the series features a different couple.

EXCERPT
When I’d glanced at the photo my client had shown me of his daughter, my hesitation ceased to exist. Only one thing mattered—saving Hadley from the men who’d taken her. The sight of her broad smile and bright green eyes staring up at me from her picture froze me in my tracks. Brown hair so dark it almost appeared black, flowed over her shoulders, stopping just above her tits. Her perky, luscious tits which looked huge on her tiny frame. I got a hard-on from seeing her picture while sitting across from her father and discussing her kidnapping. It was insane. I’d never had a reaction like this to a woman, let alone from a damn picture at a time like this.
It was almost as insane as the feeling of possessiveness which swamped me when Whit whistled softly under his breath while glancing at her picture. We’d been together since boot camp, and I’d been lucky when he decided not to re-up at the same time as me. It meant I was able to open my security firm with Whit at my side, just like I’d started my military career. At his sign of male appreciation, I wanted nothing more than to demonstrate exactly what I’d do if he ever laid a hand on her.
“Back the fuck off,” I hissed at him, sending his eyebrows into his hairline before he moved to the wall and leaned against it. I was sure to hear about this later, but I didn’t give a fuck. She was mine, but first I needed to get her out of this mess.

Synopsis:

Hazel
I don't know who I am anymore, or what I'm becoming. Time doesn't exist in this godforsaken Hell I call my life. Every time I find a semblance of hope, it's bled away. Just like I'm bleeding away. The longer he believes he's won, the more I die inside. I may be nothing but a shell by the time this is over.

Cash

I failed her. I couldn't keep her safe. Now I may lose her completely. We're running against a clock controlled by a madman and we don't know when he plans to end his game. Every minute that passes without finding him makes the thought of killing him that much sweeter.

Phil

I didn't think it would be so easy. Pretty soon, my Snap will be on the streets and I'll be living the dream. That is, after I take Cash out. With him gone, I'll control not only the drug, but Hazel as well. If she listens, she will have a hell of a life. Right. Beside. Me.

*This series contains scenes of drug abuse, brutality, and rape. Reader discretion is advised.

Excerpt:

My hand slips from his and I make my way to the kitchen. I look at the bottle and back to my glass for a moment before putting the bottle to my lips. The wine fills my mouth, and I gulp it down hoping it will drown the emotions swirling within me. But the lump in my throat remains and grows larger with every pull off the bottle. The more I swallow, the more it feels like I'm choking. I lower the bottle, letting it thunk on the counter top, and try to breathe through the panic attack building inside of me.

 "I was infatuated with you."

The rumble of his voice makes me clutch the counter, my breath caught in my chest. As much as I want to know, I can't listen to it right now. It's all too much to take in when I'm still coming to terms with what Phil did to me.

"The longer I watched you, the more I was drawn to you," he continues, his voice getting closer. "You learn a lot about people when they don't know you're looking." My back warms as the heat of his body gets closer. He places his hands on the counter, trapping me between his arms. "Want to know what I learned about you?"

I stare down at the counter, thankfully hidden by the curtain of hair falling around my face, and shake my head. Cash's slight stubble on his jaw rubs against the side of my face as he leans closer, his chest grazing my back. His heart beats a rhythm that mine recognizes and tries to keep in tune with. I'd rather face Phil right now, because at least I know where I stand with him.

"You are selfless," he says, disregarding me. "You're happiest when those around you are happy. You have this need to help others without getting anything in return. But you're too prideful to let anyone in and help you when you need it most. You push people away by putting the focus back on them and deal with shit that you shouldn't have to deal with alone. And you do it all with the most beautiful smile I have every seen." His arms drape gently around me, and he rests his head against mine. "It's hard to find genuinely good people in the world," he whispers. "Trust me, I know. I've spent my life watching people selfishly choose their needs over others. And I turned into one of them."

Cash turns me around and cups the side of my face lifting it up to his. "I didn't want this to happen. I wanted to do my job and come home. But I couldn't stop thinking about you. I wanted what you gave everyone else freely. So I selfishly took it. I needed to see you smile at me like that and know I was the reason for it. And when you did, I couldn't get enough." He searches my eyes as he bares his heart to me. His mouth hovers over mine, bathing my lips in the warmth of his whiskey-scented breath with every word. "I wanted more. I thought I'd get it and walk away from you when this was over. But there's a piece of me that thinks I deserve this…" His lips brush against mine tormentingly as the shaky words fall from his lips. "That I deserve you."

Knox by Eve Jagger

Sexy. Famous. A player on and off the field.

Cooper Knox has a body built for sex and sin, and he's my dirty little secret.
He was supposed to be a one-night stand - but now he’s back in town, and he’s going to find out the truth.

I’m his best friend’s little sister: off-limits and totally out of his league.
We swore we’d stay away from each other.

Our secret could destroy everything.

But Knox always gets what he wants.

And he wants me

Excerpt
“Yeah, well, now that Knox is back in town, we’re gonna have to find him a steady girl,” Cassie says, furrowing her brow as if she’s scanning her mental rolodex.
“Yeah, between the two of us we know plenty of girls who are still single.” Savannah pulls her phone out, ready to start scrolling through her contacts.
Cash laughs. “Don’t hold your breath, ladies. The local diamond dolls are gonna be all over our boy here. Let him enjoy it before you start trying to chain him down.”
Groupies. I’ve gotta admit—the routine gets old, but the eye candy never fails to tempt me. Like I said, you only live once. “Hey, the last girl I hooked up with didn’t even know who I was,” I can’t help pointing out.
Ryder laughs. “Is that what she told you?”
I roll my eyes.
“Did you find her hidden under a rock, then? I hear those cloistered nuns are hot.” Cash grins at me, that old twinkle in his eye. He’d never mess around on Savannah, but I swear that’s made him worse than ever about hounding me to go hook up in his place.
“Actually, I met her right here in this fine establishment of ours.”
“Nice. Hooking up in the library—exactly what we had in mind,” Cash says with more than a little enthusiasm.
“You say that like we haven’t already,” Savannah butts in with a pointed eyebrow, which earns her a high-five from Cassie.
“Hey don’t change the subject,” Ryder interrupts. “You’ve been holding out on us, bro. When was this? And who, someone from school?”
“New Year’s. And nope. Never seen her before in my life. Or since, for that matter.”
It may not have been the first time a New Year’s countdown and a whole bunch of booze ended with a girl screaming my name, but this time was different. For one thing, this time I was sober enough that my memory of the way she felt beneath me in that baseball field is still seared red-hot into my brain. The number of times I’ve relived that night, her hands all over me, her breathing heavy as she urged my fingers closer to her soaking panties . . .
“So that’s where you disappeared that night, you dirty dog!” Cash punches my arm across the table.
Savannah laughs and tops off her and Cash’s glasses of bubbly with the last of the champagne. “Anybody you care to see again?”
Yeah, you could definitely say that. If I knew how to find her, that is.
“Would if I could,” I admit. “But she was a one-and-done kinda girl. Said no when I asked for her digits.”
“Oooooh,” Ryder says. “Love ‘em and leave ‘em. The very best kind.”
Cassie punches him in the arm and steals his drink out from under him. “A mystery woman, nice. What did she look like? Maybe she’s a regular.”
I open my mouth to describe her—long brown hair, huge, sexy, deep brown eyes, a sway in her step when she walks, a gravelly voice when she’s coming—okay maybe I wouldn’t have added that last part. But right as I’m about to start speaking, a knee collides with me from behind.
I manage to keep from dropping my scotch, though just barely. I’m about to spin around and bark a curse at whoever just staggered into me, when Jackson, who’s been oddly quiet so far, stiffens. “Oh, hey,” he says, looking not at me, but above and behind me.
Everyone’s eyes follow his, and I turn around to find myself staring up at a familiar face.
“What, that’s your only greeting to your beloved little sister?”
There, standing behind me, close enough to touch, close enough that I can smell the familiar floral bite of her perfume, is my not-so-mysterious-after-all New Year’s hookup. Grinning sarcastically while looking straight at Jackson.
Little sister? Jackson’s younger sister is my mysterious New Year’s hookup?
Fuck.
You have got to be kidding me.

book blurb

Blaise Knight is content. She owns a trendy, in-demand flower boutique, has great friends, and an obsession with red velvet cake. After a string of disappointing dates, Blaise decides to give up dating, and focus on the things that are most important to her.

Greyson Steele is the “family stud”. After his stint in the Delta Force, he is coerced into the family business. And, his manipulative mother is planning a wedding for him to a woman he can’t stand. But Greyson has other plans. At thirty-nine, Greyson is ready to settle down, but only with a woman he chooses. After meeting the fiery owner of Knight in Bloom, Greyson finds his match.

Sparks fly when Blaise and Greyson meet. Can he convince her to take a chance on him? Or will Blaise’s past ruin their chances for a future? Their romance forces Greyson on a chase halfway around the world to solve a mystery, and find his love.
excerpt
Blaise wrapped her arms around Greyson’s neck, burying her hands in his hair. She tilted her head, and Greyson responded by deepening the kiss. His arms came around her waist, and he pulled her closer. Feeling his solid body against hers made her heart begin to pound almost painfully in her chest. The urge to climb up this man’s body, and allow him to do anything he pleased right then and there, was strong.

Blaise lowered her hands to Greyson’s chest, and pushed gently until their lips parted. “Wow.”

“Wow is right.” Greyson bent his head to kiss her again, but Blaise turned and walked a couple of steps away. “Why are you always running away from me, Blaise?”

“I’m not running, Greyson.” She took a deep, cleansing breath. “You… this…” Blaise sighed, and sat back down on the bench before her weak knees failed her. “You scare me.”

Greyson sat next to her, and she noted that he left a space between them. “Why do I scare you?”

She hesitated. “I never wanted a relationship, Greyson. It’s just not something I thought about.”

“Why?”

Blaise shrugged. “Relationships are messy. Turn ugly. I’m happy the way I am. Why would I change that by getting into a relationship?”

“I suppose you’re right,” Greyson nodded speculatively. “Relationships can get messy. Of course, I’ve never been in a real relationship, so I’m no expert.” He turned until his knee touched hers. “Blaise? Do we ignore how we feel, the chemistry, the attraction, because we’re afraid it might get messy? What if it turns out to be the best thing that ever happened to both of us?”

Blaise smiled a little. “What if that scares me almost as much?”

“It scares me, too, doll.” He placed his hand over hers, stopping the restless picking at her jeans. “Nevertheless, I’m willing to risk it to see where this goes.”

“I’m sure your mother is going to love that.”

“She doesn’t know you, Blaise.”

“She doesn’t want to know me, Greyson,” she countered. Greyson took a deep breath, and rubbed his chin. Fantastic. That gesture meant Greyson had something to say that he was uncomfortable with. Or something she was going to be uncomfortable with. “What?”

“Nora has invited you to Sunday lunch with the family,” he answered cautiously.

Her laugh was sharp and sarcastic. Until she noticed he didn’t laugh with her. “You’re serious?”

“Yes. I know this is all happening pretty fast…”

“Really, really fast.”

“It’s just lunch, doll. A way for Nora to get to know you. Perhaps she’ll see what I see.”

“Hmm. Should I open with being friends with the Gallos and being invited to the Sumptor Gallery opening by Eve Sumptor-Riley, herself?”

He rumbled with laughter. “Tell you what. Take the week to think about it. If you still feel uncomfortable, we’ll forgo Sunday lunch and do something else. Deal?”

The alarm on Blaise’s phone sounded, startling her. “Crap! I have to go.”

“What?” Greyson frowned, and stood with her.

“I’m sorry. I’m working on this important request for a client, and it’s at a critical stage.”

“You’re leaving me for flowers?”

She glared at him. “You know, if you want a relationship with me to work, you’re going to have to at least pretend that what I do is important.”

He raised his hands. “You’re right, I’m sorry. That was completely rude, and I didn’t mean to criticize your work.” He wrapped his arms around her waist. “I just thought we could talk a bit more about us.”

“Talk, huh?” She rose on her tip-toes and kissed him quickly on the lips. “I would love to talk, but I really do have to get home.”

Greyson growled, making Blaise chuckle. “All right. May I at least call you?”

“It would be kind of hard to have a ‘relationship’ if we didn’t communicate,” she grinned.

“Cute.” He dipped his head to kiss her.

Blaise put her fingertips to his lips. “Mm-mmm. If you kiss me again, I won’t be able to leave.”

“I don’t see the problem with that.”

The alarm on Blaise’s phone sounded again, reminding them both of her prior commitments.

“I really have to go. Thank you for today.”

“It was my pleasure, doll.” He tucked her hair behind her ear. “About this relationship, stuff. We’ll figure it out. Together.”

meet the author

I've been in Houston, Texas, writing novels and designing websites since 2009. Moving here was one of the best decisions I've ever made, because I've been able to live wonderfully, and write my heart out. I've always enjoyed the arts in one form or another. Music sets the mood, reading stimulates my brain, and writing allows me to utilize my imagination in any way I want. I've been writing stories since I was a teen, and figured out writing was my passion when I finished my first novel, Something About Eve.

I love being captivated by books that lead me into different, exotic places, and through impossible scenarios. I love being able to become someone else for a time. Reading has always inspired me to bring my own characters out to play. My hope is that my writing will inspire others, or at the least, give them a way to escape from everyday life for a little while.

As web designer, etc. for singer/actress Deborah Gibson, I've had the opportunity to be involved in wonderful experiences, travel around the country and meet exciting people. Just recently, I was able to travel to Berlin, and meet some fantastic people. It's experiences like this, I believe, that help me create unique, and (hopefully) lovable characters.

I will be continuing the LA Lovers series with Ellie's book next. Each book will be a stand-alone, but look for Eve, Lainey, and Adam to show up here and there. I truly hope you enjoyed Blaise and Greyson. You'll be able to see more of them in the next book!

I spend my time writing, designing websites and caring for what is really a zoo with 3 dogs, 2 cats, a bearded dragon, 2 frogs and 2 turtles. In the recent years, I've changed my lifestyle to include working out and eating right. I now compete in triathlons, have run two half-marathons, and love yoga.

I love bringing my characters out for everyone to meet. My goal is to keep writing in many different genres, as I feel there shouldn't be anything limiting writers.
